Obituary, Regina M. Uva

 

Regina M. Uva, age 89, died on Monday, February 29, 2016 at her residence in Millbrook, NY. Born in Garrison, NY, on January 1, 1927 she was the daughter of the late Carmine and Louise (Boniello) Bocchino. She was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, a decorated WW II veteran, Emanuel Uva, in 2013. Mrs. Uva grew up in Garrison and Cold Spring, and was a graduate of Haldane High School. After her marriage she and her husband settled in Buchanan, NY, where they resided for over 55 years. During the war years she was employed by the Sonatone Battery Company in Cold Spring and later as a seamstress in Beacon, Peekskill and Buchanan. After graduating from the Peekskill Business school she worked at Maryknoll Fathers and Brothers in Ossining, NY until her retirement. She was a parishioner of St. Christopher’s Church in Buchanan and was an active member of the Village of Buchanan Senior Citizens. Regina will be missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her son Joe and his wife Susan Uva, her daughter Jean and her husband Joe Rist; four grandchildren, J.C. Uva and his wife Elizabeth Rich, Jamie Uva, Nicole Rist and Stephanie Rist; two great grandchildren, Luke and Teddy Uva; two brothers, Patrick Bocchino and Domenic Bocchino; three sisters, Nancy Esposito, Angie Weyant and Josie Fleming. In addition, 17 nieces and nephews; 48 grand nieces and nephews; and 24 great grand nieces and nephews also survive. She was predeceased by two brothers, James and Gerard Bocchino.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00am, Monday, March 7, 2016 at Our Lady of Loretto Church, 24 Fair St., Cold Spring, NY 10516. Interment will follow in the Cold Spring Cemetery. Friends may call at  Corner of Parrott and Pine Sts. (21 Parrott St.) Cold Spring, NY 10516, on Sunday, March 6th from 2 to 6 PM. Donations in Mrs. Uva’s name have been asked to The ValerieFund.org, LighthouseGuild.org or MaryknollSociety.org.
