Hyde Park man arrested for Burglary and vehicle theft

Wappinger, New York – On February 23, 2016, New York State Police from the Wappinger barracks arrested 34-year-old Shawn M. Nesheiwat, of Hyde Park, New York, for Burglary in the 2nd Degree, a Class C Felony, Criminal Mischief 2nd Degree, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 3rd Degree, and Burglary in the 3rd Degree, Class D Felonies.

On February 10, 2016, Troopers responded to a Wappinger’s residence to investigate a reported burglary.  The victims told police that they discovered their 2014 Mercedes Benz missing from their detached garage and contacted the police for assistance.  The car keys, which were kept inside of the residence, were also taken.  Troopers located the stolen Mercedes in the Hudson Plaza parking lot, unoccupied and with significant damage.

Following a detailed investigation conducted by members of the Bureau of Criminal Investigation and the uniformed force, Nesheiwat was identified as a suspect.

Nesheiwat was arraigned before the Town of Wappinger Justice Wolfson and remanded to the Dutchess County jail in lieu of $50,000 cash bail or $100,000 bond. The defendant is due to reappear in the Wappinger Court on February 26, 2016 at 3:00 p.m.
