Obituary, Ernesto R. Perez

 

Pleasant Valley – On Valentine’s Day February 14th, 2016, our father Ernesto R. Perez, 88 of Pleasant Valley, was ushered into the presence of his greatest love, his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.Born in Boqueron, Cuba on June 14, 1927, he was the son of the late Eusebio and Elpidia Perez. He emigrated from Cuba to the United States in 1954. His wife Gloria Mejorado Perez predeceased him on November 20, 2003.

Mr. Perez was employed by Pawling Rubber Co. for over 20 years until his retirement in 1992.

He also played on the company’s softball team for many years.Ernesto lived In Pawling, NY and also was a resident of Melville, La., where he was employed by Exxon in Baton Rouge, La.

He was a boxer in Cuba and continued with weight training and physical fitness all throughout his life. He was a New York Yankees and Mets fan and enjoyed gardening and hunting.Ernesto was known to have a green thumb in gardening and produce big beautiful juicy red tomatoes!

Ernesto is survived by his children; Lisa Perez of Pleasant Valley, Martina Perez of Pleasant Valley, Anthony Perez of Pleasant Valley, Gloria Ontiveros of Pleasant Valley and her husband David Ontiveros Sr. of El Paso Texas, Ernesto Perez Jr. and his wife Donna of Port Barre, La, and his remaining children in Cuba Ernestico Matos Perez of Caimanera, Cuba, Osvaldo Matos Perez of Caimanera, Cuba and Nidia Matos Perez and her husband Alejandro Hartmann of Baracoa, Cuba. Ernesto has; 17 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren; Caridad from Yeterita, Cuba, Aleida of Cape Coral, FL. and numerous nieces and nephews.He was predeceased by his brothers, Arnold, Enio, Eusebio, Ebleni, Luis, Ramon and Nicholas; and sisters, Esperanza, Estella and Ida.

Visitation will be Saturday, February 20 from 11 am – 1 pm at  1605 Main St., Pleasant Valley. Funeral services will follow at 1 pm from the funeral home. Interment will be in Beekman Cemetery, Poughquag,NY.
