State Police investigate armed robbery in Canaan

Canaan, New York – The New York State Police from Livingston are investigating an armed robbery that occurred at the Sunoco Station located at 12737 State Route 22, in Canaan.

On February 8, 2016 at approximately 11:50 a.m., Troopers were dispatched by Columbia County 911 to investigate a reported Robbery.  The victim reported to police that he observed two male subjects behind the gas station.  Knowing that the subjects should not have been behind the store, he confronted the two males who were described as wearing dark colored clothing and winter caps.  The suspects struck the victim, knocked him to the ground, and demanded money from the victim at gunpoint.  The suspects are believed to have fled the area on foot.

State Police Aviation and canines checked the surrounding area searching for the suspects who were not located.

The victim was transported to Columbia Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.
