Obituary, C. Jean Ruckles

MUSCATINE IOWA — C. Jean Ruckles, 95, of Muscatine, passed away Sunday, Jan. 24, 2016, at Premier Estates of Muscatine.

Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 1, 2016, at Wesley United Methodist Church, Muscatine. Dr. Bruce Ursin will officiate. Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 1, 2016, at the church. A luncheon will follow the memorial service in the Wesley fellowship hall. Private burial will take place in Muscatine Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Wesley United Methodist Church. Jean was born March 29, 1920, in Muscatine, the daughter of Claude K. and Ella B. TeStrake Healy. She married P. Thomas Ruckles on July 10, 1943, in Pawling, N.Y.; he preceded Jean on Dec. 29, 1974.

She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and she sang in the church choir. She was also a member of P.E.O. Chapter J.R. and Unity Hospital Auxiliary. She was an excellent seamstress, enjoying sewing, quilting and knitting. She also belonged to many knitting and quilting clubs.

Those left to honor her memory include three daughters, Carol Ann Zorich, and husband, Chris, Muscatine, Deborah Proffitt, and husband, Brian, Muscatine, and Jennifer Blake, Champaign, Ill.; six grandchildren, Ann Ross, Allison Means, Laura Colvin, Joel Proffitt, Thomas Blake and Caroline Blake; eight great-grandchildren, Arlo, Aubree, Harlow, Ella, Audo, Eva, Elliot and Heath; and one sister, Ruth Johnson, Leawood, Kan.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and an infant son, Timothy, in 1948.
