Poughkeepsie man charged with endangering the welfare of a child

Wappinger, New York – On January 24, 2016, the New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation from the Wappinger barracks arrested Bert A. Swain, age 80, of Poughkeepsie, New York, for Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a Class A Misdemeanor.

School officials from the Wappingers Central School District reviewing school bus video surveillance footage observed what appeared to be a bus monitor striking a student.  The incident, which occurred on January 21, 2016 was observed by school officials on January 22, 2016 and immediately reported to the State Police.  Following an investigation conducted by the State Police, Swain was subsequently arrested for Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

Swain is scheduled to appear before the Town of Wappinger Court on January 26, 2016, at 5:30 p.m.
