Cairo man arrested for drug possession and resisting arrest

PRESS RELEASE

The State Police at Catskill report the arrest of BRIAN MORRILL, age 47 from Cairo, NY, who is charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd (a B Felony), Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 4th (a C Felony), Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd (a D Felony), Possession of a Hypodermic Needle (an A Misdemeanor), two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th (an A Misdemeanor), Driving While Ability Impaired – Drug (a Misdemeanor), and Resisting Arrest (an A Misdemeanor).
Troopers from SP Catskill conducted a traffic stop on State Route 9W in the Town of Coeymans for traffic infractions. During the interview of the operator, BRIAN MORRILL, displayed signs of being impaired. MORRILL was given field sobriety test which he failed. When being placed into custody MORRILL physical resisted and attempted running away. Subsequent to a search of MORRILL, he was found to be in possession of a switchblade knife, 7.2 grams of Crack Cocaine, multiple Oxycodone pills, heroin, a crack pipe and hypodermic needles.
 MORRILL was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 4th, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd, Possession of a Hypodermic Needle, two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th, Driving While Ability Impaired – Drug, and Resisting Arrest.
MORRILL was arraigned in the Town of Coeymans Court and remanded to the Albany County Jail with no bail. MORRILL was given a future court date to return to the Town of Coeymans Court.
