Dutchess Man Charged With Reckless Driving

Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith reports the arrest of a Dutchess County man on a charge of reckless driving.

On January 3, 2016 at 9:52 p.m., Deputy Sheriff Brian Aisenstat observed a speeding motorist commit several traffic violations on Route 9 in the Town of Philipstown. At one point, the deputy paced the motorist at 105 miles per hour in a 45 miles per hour zone. The deputy initiated a traffic stop and identified the driver as Christopher C. Council, 32, of 5 Yew Court, Fishkill, New York. The deputy arrested Mr. Council and charged him with Reckless Driving, a misdemeanor. The defendant was processed at the Putnam County Correctional Facility and released after posting $85.00 cash bail pending a February 3, 2016 appearance in the Town of Philipstown Justice Court.

If found guilty of the misdemeanor charge, the defendant could face up to a year in jail and a fine of up to $1,000.00 for each charge.
