Carmel man arrested for felony driving while intoxicated following traffic stop in Pawling

Pawling, New York – On January 1, 2015, New York State Police from the Dover barracks arrested Justin M. Koehler, 25 years old, of Carmel, New York, for Driving While Intoxicated, a Class E Felony, and Obstructing Governmental Administration 2nd Degree, a Class A Misdemeanor.

Troopers stopped Koehler on State Route 55 for failing to maintain his designated lane of travel.  Following an investigation conducted by the arresting officer, Koehler was found to be intoxicated.  He was charged with Felony DWI when a criminal history revealed a previous DWI related conviction from March of 2014.

Koehler supplied a positive breath sample that revealed a Blood Alcohol Content
of .20%, more than two times the legal limit of intoxication.  Koehler was additionally charged with Obstructing Governmental Administration 2nd Degree when he refused to be fingerprinted or photographed.

The defendant was arraigned before the Town of Dover Justice Court and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail.  He is due to appear in the Town of Pawling Court and the Town of Dover Court on a later date.
