LaGrangeville, New York – On January 3, 2016 at approximately 9:08 p.m., New York State Police from the Poughkeepsie barracks were dispatched to Tymor Park in the Town of Union Vale for a reported car/pedestrian hit-and-run motor vehicle collision.
Troopers arrived on scene and located the victim, Michael Esposito, 18-years-old, of LaGrangeville, New York, who appeared to have serious internal injuries consistent with being run over by a motor vehicle.  Esposito was transported to Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital by Transcare Ambulance where he succumbed to his injuries.
An investigation revealed that two groups of young adults ranging in age from 16 to 20 years old arrived at Tymor Park to engage in illegal conduct that resulted in a confrontation.  During this altercation, Esposito and 18-year-old Joseph M. Calderon, retrieved baseball bats from the vehicle they arrived in and began striking the vehicle driven by 20-year-old Aaron W. Scott, of LaGrange, New York.  Scott subsequently drove forward over Esposito and fled the scene prior to the arrival of emergency services.  A short time later, Scott’s vehicle was located unoccupied by a Dutchess County Deputy Sheriff on Manor Drive in the Town of LaGrange.  Troopers subsequently located Scott coming out of a shed behind a residence nearby.
Scott was charged with Manslaughter in the 2nd Degree, a class C Felony, and arraigned in the Town of Union Vale Court before Hon. Paul Pancio T/J.  He was remanded to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $100,000 cash bail or $200,000 bond.
Calderon was charged with Criminal Mischief 3rd, a Class E Felony, and released on an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Union Vale Court on 1/20/16 at 7:00pm.
Union Vale Fire Department assisted at the scene.
