DecemberFest: Reading of “Claudine”

Open House from 2–4pm

2:30pm: Marian Grudko, author, reads: “Claudine,” the story of a ladybug who wants to live in Paris; and a selection of “Assorted Tales.”

As in years past, the Historical Society of Quaker Hill and Pawling will be opening the John Kane House, 126 East Main Street, Pawling, NY, in conjunction with Pawling’s DecemberFest Celebration.

At this beautiful historic home, George Washington’s headquarters in 1778, we will offer Candlelight Tours, complimentary refreshments, traditional exterior lighting and greenery, beautiful interior decorations provided by the Pawling Garden Club, and live entertainment.

This year offers us a special reason to celebrate – after 30 years without them, our beautiful house again has period shutters, and sparkling fresh paint on the exterior to show them off! In addition, shrubbery on the East Main Street has been trimmed dramatically,so there is a better view of the home and an enticement to visit.

Please note another change for us in 2015. Open house hours now reflect when we are open during the season, and are more in keeping with Colonial times: 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., on Saturday and Sunday afternoons.

At this beautiful historic home, George Washington’s headquarters in 1778, we will offer Seasonal Tours (Guides in Colonial Dress),complimentary refreshments, traditional exterior lighting and greenery, beautiful interior holiday decorations by volunteer members of the Pawling Garden Club, and live entertainment. A donation of $3 per person would be appreciated.
