Cortlandt, New York – On December 3, 2015, New York State Police from the Cortlandt barracks arrested 35-year-old Alfred L. Doughty Jr., of Mohegan Lake, New York, for Criminal Contempt in the 1st Degree, a Class E Felony, Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Petit Larceny and Criminal Obstruction of Breathing, all Misdemeanors.

On November 11, 2015, Troopers were dispatched to a Mohegan Lake address for a physical domestic disturbance. The victim reported that her ex-boyfriend, identified as Doughty, had entered a residence where she was visiting.  He then struck her and choked her while in the presence of children.  Doughty then took the victim’s cell phone and fled the area prior to police arriving on scene.

Pursuant to an investigation conducted by the arresting officer, it was discovered that Doughty was previously served a court order of protection prohibiting him from having contact with the victim.

Doughty was featured on Facebook’s Warrant Wednesday on November 25, 2015 after a warrant was issued ordering his arrest.

Doughty turned himself over to police on December 3, 2015 and was arraigned before the Town of Cortlandt Court.  He was remanded to the Westchester County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bail and directed to return to the Cortlandt Justice Court at a later date.

Also charged as a result of this investigation was Toni Ann Renda, 29 years old, of the Town of Cortlandt.  On December 3, 2015, Renda was charged with Hindering Prosecution in the 3rd Degree, a Class A Misdemeanor.  Renda was arrested after it was discovered that she deliberately hid Doughty knowing that the State Police possessed a warrant for his arrest.
