Pursuit leads to arrest for loaded handgun and drugs

State Police in Middletown report the arrest of three men on various charges following a brief vehicle pursuit on Saturday, November 28, 2015.  At about 2:41 PM, troopers observed a 2007 Honda Civic occupied by three men commit several traffic infractions on Industrial Drive in the Town of Wallkill.  The troopers attempted to stop the vehicle, which continued to travel and eventually stopped in a driveway on Janice Drive.  The troopers developed probable cause to search the vehicle, which led to the recovery of an illegally possessed and loaded .38 Special handgun, 2.6 grams of heroin, and a small quantity of marihuana.  The driver of the vehicle was identified as Tywan St. Philippe, age 21, of Middletown.  His passengers were identified as Jamaad Murphy and Dyzier Lewis, both age 19, from Middletown.  All three were charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the second degree, criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, and unlawful possession of marihuana.  St. Philippe was additionally charged with Unlawfully fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle in the third degree.  Murphy was additionally charged with criminal impersonation in the second degree for providing a false name and date of birth when he was taken into custody.  All three men were arraigned before Town of Wallkill Justice Peter W. Green and committed to Orange County Jail in lieu of bail.
