*UPDATE* State Police investigate the suspicious death of a North Salem woman

North Salem, New York – The New York State Police at Somers is investigating the suspicious death of 83-year-old Lois Colley of North Salem, New York.

On November 9, 2015 at approximately 5:20 p.m., State Police from the Somers barracks were dispatched to investigate an unattended death on Titicus Road in the Town of North Salem.  A property caretaker reportedly located Ms. Colley’s body in the laundry room of the residence and contacted Westchester County 911 for assistance.

Preliminary investigation revealed that Ms. Colley is the apparent victim of a homicide that occurred yesterday afternoon as a result of blunt force trauma.

The investigation into Ms. Colley’s death remains active. Anyone with information regarding this investigation is asked to contact the New York State Police, Bureau of Criminal Investigation at 914-277-3177 or 914-769-2600.

The State Police were assisted by the Town of North Salem Police Department.

Lieutenant Paul DeQuarto stated “This is a shocking and disturbing crime in what is usually a quiet and peaceful town in Westchester County.”

Major Robin H. Benziger, Troop Commander of Troop K, stated “The community should remain alert and vigilant in reporting to police any suspicious activity, vehicles or persons in the North Salem area.”
