Toddlers and parents will participate in fun filled 45 minute sessions that include listening to books, music, movement, finger plays, nursery rhymes and other related activities designed especially for active toddlers. Each session is followed by an open exploration time for children so parents can socialize. Registration is required.

A weekly family literacy program that introduces children to group programs with 45 minute sessions that include listening to books, music, movement, finger plays, nursery rhymes, flannel board activities and more. Registration is required. Please call the library at 855-3444.

Hatha Yoga is one of the most popular relaxing forms of exercise.

Come spend an hour with us and enjoy a new found path to tranquility.

Please wear comfortable clothing and bring a yoga mat or blanket.

Each session ends with a guided meditation.

Our program for 4 – 5 year olds has always focused on pre-reading skills that are important to early reading success in kindergarten, but now there’s more! We want to give your child a S.M.A.R.T. Start by including Science, Math and Reading Together! Each week we’ll include either a science or math based activity to complement the program’s strong literacy activities. Now our programs offer your children even more learning activities before they head off to kindergarten! (No session Nov. 24th) Registration is required. Please call the library at 855-3444.

We’ll begin re-exploring this popular series, this time in order…starting with “The Mystery of the Tree House Magic” books! For this session we’ll read The Knight at Dawn at home and come prepared to unravel how this series became so popular! After we talk about the book, we’ll head over to the community room for some creative fun!

Team Hogan is Hogan, a chocolate lab and Vicki, his owner and trainer. Schedule a time to read 15 minutes with Hogan, a certified, trained therapy dog. Research has shown the benefits of having children read with dogs. Enjoy those benefits right here at the library. Hogan & Vicki are ready and willing to read with your child this fall!

Town of Poughkeepsie resident Colette Martin will present clever gluten-free and food allergy recipe substitutions, based on her new book The Allergy-Free Pantry: Make Your Own Staples, Snacks, and More without Wheat, Gluten, Dairy, Eggs, Soy or Nuts.

She will demonstrate how easy it is to prepare pantry staples in the safety of your own home and share some of her favorite recipes including sunflower seed butter, egg-free mayonnaise, and gluten-free breadcrumbs.

Colette Martin is a food allergy advocate, author of the highly acclaimed Learning to Bake Allergen-Free, and Vice-Chairperson of the Board of Kids with Food Allergies.

Copies of her books will be available for purchase and signing by the author.
