Traffic Stop Leads to Arrest of Poughkeepsie Man for DWI and Weapons Charge

The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of Brandon Bailey (30 yoa) of Poughkeepsie on Main Street in the City of Poughkeepsie in the early morning hours of November 7, 2015.
At approximately 4:26am a deputy sheriff on STOP-DWI patrol observed a 2006 Honda, operated by Brandon Bailey speeding in zone on Baker St and attempted to stop the vehicle.  The vehicle continued onto Church St and then Main St, finally stopping in the back of a parking lot off of Main St.  Just before the vehicle stopped the deputy sheriff observed Bailey throw something out of the car.   A check of the immediate area was conducted and the item he had discarded was located.  Recovered was a bag that had contained a stolen handgun and loaded magazine.   The handgun was a Colt 45 caliber which had been reported stolen to the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office in Florida in 2011.   Additional investigation also revealed the Bailey was intoxicated.

Brandon Bailey was charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd & Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 4th both felonies, DWI & BAC .08% or more both misdemeanors as well as speed in zone a traffic infraction.    He was later arraigned in the City of Poughkeepsie Court and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail, where he was later released after posting bail.  He is to appear back in the City of Poughkeepsie Court on Monday November 9, 2015 at 9:00pm.
