Operation Jungle Red!! Today kicks off the first day of Operation Jungle Red Week!! Operation Jungle Red was created to raise awareness of senseless violence especially in schools. This program began in the wake of the Virginia Tech University shooting in October of 2011. The goal of OJR is to start conversations about acts of violence and to acknowledge the victims of violent acts. Today’s theme is: Risk Awareness Day. Tomorrow’s theme is Animal Abuse Awareness – Wear your YELLOW!

1. Today is a “B” Day.

2. Varsity Cheerleading tryouts start today at 2:10 in the high school cafeteria.

3. JV and Varsity girls basketball tryouts begin today at 2:30 pm in the high school gym.

4. Just a reminder that FACS Club will meet after school today in Mrs. Elliott’s room. All are welcome.

5. Foreign Language Club will be meeting tomorrow during 6th period Mrs. Brajuha’s.

6. Attention all high school students interested in auditioning for the spring musical! We will be auditioning for TWO shows this year: HAIRSPRAY and CINDERELLA on Tuesday, November 17th from 2-5 pm. We will choose and cast the show that is best suited for us for this year’s production. Audition materials are now available on the bulletin board outside the chorus room. Each person auditioning should prepare a song selection from BOTH shows. You may also be dancing at the audition so wear comfortable shoes! You MUST attend auditions on November 17th in order to be cast in the show. See Mr. Stockslager for more information.

7. Come support the upcoming drama production of the comedy You Can’t Take It With You. See this story, comparable to the Adam’s Family, unleash the chaos as two very different and unprepared families come together for a dinner party on the wrong night. Performances are Friday, November 13th at 7 pm and Saturday, November 14th at 2 pm and 7 pm. Tickets are $6 for students/seniors and $8 for adults and will be sold online and at the door before each performance. See Mr. Stockslager or a cast or crew member for information. 

8. Winter Track and Field will begin Tuesday, November 10th. Sign ups will be in the high school guidance office starting tomorrow. Please check with the high school nurse if you need an updated physical.

9. SAT Word of the Day – ACROPHOBIA – The word mean fear of heights.

10. A representative from the Culinary Institute of America will be visiting on Tuesday. Stop by the dining hall to meet with the representative.

11. The next middle school Art Club meeting is Thursday, November 12th. You must sign up in order to attend. Space is limited to 20 students, so sign up soon.

12.  Weight Room will be open this week on Thursday only with Ms. O. Starting next week Tuesdays and Thursday. Middle school students can find a signup sheet in the middle school gym.

13. Attention all Photography Club members – the next meeting will be held Thursday, November 12th from 2:15-3:30 pm. Please come prepared to photograph the Harvest Moon Festival dinner.

14. Attention: Cosplay Club: Tomorrow’s meeting is for high school only. Our meeting is at 2:10 pm. Be there. See Ms. Deon or Jacy Lin with questions.

15. Want to have fun during school. Why not participate in a middle school’s Spirit Week November 16th to November 20th by showing your fall spirit. Monday, November 16th is flannel day, Tuesday, November 17th is write a thank you note to a teacher, custodian, aide, or lunch lade in the middle school, Wednesday, November 18th is fall out day wear fall colors, Thursday, November 19th is crazy sock day, wear those crazy socks and Friday, November 20th is pajama day stay cozy and have fun.
