Elmsford man arrested following hit and run car crash

Yonkers, New York – On October 30, 2015, New York State Police from the Hawthorne barracks arrested Kelcio M. Sousa, 45 years old, of Elmsford, New York, for Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 1st Degree, both Class E Felonies.

Troopers were dispatched to a two-car auto collision that occurred on the Sprain Brook Parkway in the City of Yonkers. An investigation showed that the suspect was traveling northbound on the Sprain Brook Parkway when he failed to maintain his lane of travel and struck another northbound vehicle. The suspect vehicle then left the scene of the accident. Sousa, the driver of the fleeing vehicle, was subsequently located and found to be intoxicated.

The defendant was charged with Felony DWI when it was discovered that he was convicted of a DWI related offense in 2015.

Sousa provided a positive breath sample that yielded a Blood Alcohol Content of .22% and was released after posting station bail.  He was issued traffic tickets directing him to appear before the City of Yonkers Court on November 2, 2015 at 9:30 a.m.
