Public Input Sought for Replacement of Clinton Hollow Bridge

Poughkeepsie… The Dutchess County Department of Public Works (DPW) has announced a Public Information Meeting will be held to discuss the proposed replacement of the Clinton Hollow Bridge (County Bridge No. C-19), located on Hollow Road (County Route 14) over Little Wappingers Creek, between Schoolhouse Road and Clinton Hollow Road (County Route 18) in the Town of Clinton. The meeting will be held on Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. at the Clinton Town Hall, located at 1215 Centre Road (County Route 18), doors will be open at 6:30pm.

Dutchess County DPW, in cooperation with the New York State Department of Transportation and the Federal Highway Administration, is developing design studies for the replacement of the Clinton Hollow Bridge and the reconstruction/realignment of curvatures in the existing roadway to enhance safety and ride-ability. The proposed project is entirely within the Town of Clinton, beginning east of Schoolhouse Road and ending west of Hollow Road, stretching approximately 800 feet. The project will require public acquisition of some roadway frontage for select properties adjacent to portions of the reconstructed bridge. Construction is anticipated to begin in the spring of 2017.

DPW is seeking comments on the proposed project from individuals, groups, officials and local agencies, in particular comments regarding the development of alternatives for the project as well as associated social, economic and/or environmental impacts. The project lies within a culturally and historically sensitive area known as the Clinton Hollow Hamlet, which has been designated as a Critical Environmental Area.

For further information or to request special accommodations at the meeting, please contact Project Manager, Matt Dutcavich, P.E., at (845) 486-2925. Written comments on the project should include reference to Project Identification Number (PIN) 8755.91 and be forwarded to Deputy Commissioner, Robert H. Balkind, P.E., at the Dutchess County Department of Public Works, 626 Dutchess Turnpike, Poughkeepsie, NY 12603.
