Obituary, Vincent ” Vinny” P. Farina

 

Vincent ” Vinny” P. Farina, age 75, of Dover Plains, died Sunday, October 4, 2015 at home in Dover Plains NY. Vinny was born January 23, 1940 in the Bronx. He is the son of the late Frank and the late Olimpia (Tangredi) Farina. He married Mary Alice Seholm on May 25, 1995 in Amenia, New York.
He served in the United States Army. Vinny was retired from Green Haven Correctional Facility Stormville New York where he worked as a Correction Officer retiring in 2002. While working in Corrections Vinny was also a Union Rep. for Council 82.
Vinny was a local resident since 1978, he was a member of San Silverio Shrine in Dover, NYSCOPBA, Council 82 and the Chestnut Ridge Rod and Gun Club. Vinny was also a member of the CERT Team at Green Haven Correctional Facility, a Commercial Photographer for UPI in Manhattan and he loved to Hunt.
Vinny is survived by his wife Mary Alice Farina of Dover Plains, NY; daughter Jeanette Sargeant and her husband Hale of Weston, VT.; son Danny Farina and his wife Anna of Southbury, CT.; son Jimmy Farina of CT.; daughter Kathleen DeLima and her husband Nei of Jeffersonvile, VT.; son Michael Farina and his wife Jessica of Wingdale, NY.; daughter Patricia Seholm and her fiance Kevin Perry of Milton, NY.; sister Rose Anastasi and her husband Vincent of Calabash, NC.; many grandchildren and three nephews.
Calling hours will be Friday, October 9, 2015 from 4pm to 8pm at 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held 10:00 am on Saturday, October 10, 2015 at Holy Trinity Church, 775 Main Street, Poughkeepsie, NY. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
