Two subjects charged with drug possession following traffic stop

Milan, New York – On September 21, 2015, New York State Police from the Livingston barracks arrested Sophia K. Macfarlane, 32 years old, of Vassalboro, Maine, and Devaughn James, age 22, of Far Rockaway, New York, following a traffic stop conducted on the Taconic State Parkway.
Troopers stopped a 1998 Lincoln traveling northbound on the Taconic State Parkway at a high rate of speed. Following an investigation conducted with the assistance of State Police canine “Juna”, James and MacFarlane were found to possess cocaine, marihuana and heroin.
Macfarlane was charged with two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7thDegree, a Class A Misdemeanor, and Unlawful Possession of Marihuana, a Violation.
Devaughn James was charged with Criminal Impersonation 2nd Degree for providing police with a family member’s name to avoid criminal charges. He was also charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree, a Class A Misdemeanor, and Unlawful Possession of Marihuana, a Violation
The defendants were arraigned before the Town of Red Hook Court and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail. Both are scheduled to appear before the Town of Milan Court on October 1, 2015 at
9:00 a.m.
