Dover High School Daily Announcements Friday September 11th 2015

 

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 11, 2015

 

1. Today is an “A” Day.

2. Anyone interested in joining the Youth for Diversity Club – please attend our first meeting on Thursday, September 17th in room 1047 with Ms. Mangar.

3. Just a reminder the dress code is in effect. Inappropriate clothing will not be tolerated. In appropriate clothing includes no spaghetti straps, no mid drift shirts, no tube tops, no inappropriate logos on clothing, no short shorts or short skirts, no hats and no visible undergarments.

4. Attention Senior Class Officers: There will be a quick meeting in Mrs. O’Hearn’s classroom during 6th period today. Thank you!

5. The deadline to register for the October ACT Exam is Friday, September 18th. If you have any questions, please stop by the guidance office.

6. Attention Seniors – Senior Portrait Retakes will be on October 15th and 16th. You must call Lifetouch to schedule an appointment at 1-800-333-2560.

7. Attention all student drivers! If you want to drive to school you MUST see Mary in the high school office. You must also attend a Teen Driving class if you have not done so in the past. Mr. Murphy will be checking the parking lot to make sure you have a parking permit. You must get a new parking permit every year.

8. There will be a general interest meeting on Tuesday, September 15th for the Expressions & Thoughts Literary Magazine. If you are interested in creative writing and poetry or analyzing others’ literary work, please stop by after school in room 1037 with Mrs. Costello on Tuesday, September 15th.

9. Applications for Driver’s Education are available in the guidance office. Please turn in your application ASAP. Classes are scheduled to being October 5th.

10. Volunteers are needed to give a student led tour of the building for the DHS Class Reunion of classes 1962-68. Please see Mrs. Conklin is interested.

11. The 5-hour Driving Course will be held on Tuesday, September 15th from 5-9:30 pm in the middle school cafeteria. See Mary in the high school officer to sign-up.

12. Applications for Driver’s Education are available in the guidance office. Please turn in your application ASAP. Classes are scheduled to begin October 5th.

13. Congressman Maloney will be hosting a Service Academy Informational Workshop on Saturday, September 12th. The event will be held at the Newburgh Armory from 2:15-4 pm. The purpose of the workshop is to inform prospective US Service Academy applicants about the application process. Please stop by the guidance office to set up an appointment or if you have any questions.

14. Attention Seniors – Please note that a Study Hall scheduled for 5th or 6th period is not a “Senior Release Period.” Please report to study hall when scheduled.

15. The first middle school Art Club meeting for the year will be next Wednesday, September 16th. All middle school students are welcome to attend. You  must sign up in advance and space is limited to 20 students. The sign up sheet is located on the orange bulletin board across from the middle school band room. Only the 20 students who sign up may attend this meeting.

16. Applications to do Community Service at Dover Elementary are now available on the bulletin board by the main office – or you can pick one up from Mrs. Cleaveland.

17. Volunteers are needed net week during both lunches to see DEEP DUCK DERBY TICKETS outside the high school dining hall. Please see Mrs. Conklin if interested.

18.  Come to the first high school Activity Night of the school year on Friday, September 18th at 6:30 pm. We will be having a movie night so make it a girls night out/guys night or a date night. Come out and support the Freshman Class!

19. The first FACS Club meeting will be Monday after school in Mrs. Elliott’s room. Any student interested in learning to sew or learning other needle arts and hobbies is encouraged to attend.

20. A representative from the following schools will be visiting next/this week: US Air Force Recruiter on Monday during lunches and Manhattan College on Monday at 1:30 pm in the guidance conference room. Johnson and Wales on Tuesday at 1:45 pm in the guidance conference room. US Marines on Wednesday during lunches and Southern Vermont on Friday at 8:30 am in the guidance conference room. Please stop by the guidance office to set up an appointment or if you have any questions!
