Obituary, Joseph Francis Gilletti

 

 

Joseph Francis Gilletti, 84, a long-time resident of Pawling, NY and more recently a Dover Plains, resident, passed away Saturday, September 5, 2015 at the Sharon Health Care Center, Sharon, CT.

Born in Carbondale, PA on August 19, 1931 to Joseph and Marion (O’Connor) Gillette, Joe grew up in Waymart, PA along with his 14 brothers and sisters.   Joe served his country in the US Air Force during the Korean War, and later married Roseann O’Neil in 1953 in Waymart; she predeceased Joe in December 2003.

Joe worked for many years as a butcher at the Pawling AG Market.  He coached Pawling Little League and Senior League, was on the Pawling Village Board for 16 years, was a former member of the Pawling Knights of Columbus, St. John’s Church, and Lion’s Club, and was Past Commander of the Hasler-Kamp Post American Legion.  An avid NY Giants fan, Joe loved buying and selling at flea markets and collecting old phones.

Joe is survived by his three children, Joseph A. Gilletti of Florida, Michele Labombard and her husband Eugene of Amenia, and Carl Gilletti and his wife Nancy, also of Florida; and his six grandchildren, Cody, Ryan, Heather, Joshua, Joey, and Justin.

Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
