Tannersville woman arrested for grand larceny

PRESS RELEASE

On August 22, 2015 the New York State Police – Bureau of Criminal Investigation SP Catskill arrested JESSICA HEWITT age 39 of Tannersville, NY for illegally obtaining over $26,000.00 in benefits she was not entitled to.

The New York State Police working in conjunction with the Greene County Department of Social Services – Fraud Unit arrested HEWITT for Grand Larceny 3rd Degree,  Five Counts of Offering a False Instrument for Filing 1st Degree and Welfare Fraud 3rd, all felonies. During the time period of April 1st, 2011 through December 31st, 2012 HEWITT received $26,338.21 in benefits from the Greene County of Department of Social Services and it was later determined that HEWITT failed to report correct household composition and of all household income during the time period in which she was receiving the benefits.

HEWITT was arraigned in the Village of Catskill court on August 22, 2015. HEWITT was remanded to the Greene County Jail on $10,000 Cash Bail / $20,000 Secured Bond and ordered to return to the Village of Catskill Court at a later date.
