Police: death of 21-year-old woman in Sherman considered suspicious

SHERMAN – The death of a 21-year-old woman in  Sherman is being investigated as suspicious, Connecticut State Police said Monday.

The woman whom is identified as Kayla Crecco, was unconscious when state troopers responded to a call shortly before 10 p.m. Saturday that a woman needed medical help at a  home on Echo Lane.

Crecco was pronounced dead at her home .

Update: The suspicious weekend death of a 21-year-old woman in a lake cottage is not believed to have involved foul play, State Police said Monday.

But it may take as long as two months before toxicology tests determine the cause of Kayla Crecco’s death.

The state Chief Medical Examiner’s Office performed an autopsy Monday and said a determination would not be reached for 6-to-8 weeks, pending the test results.
