Patterson Fire Department was dispatched to disentangle a two year old boy’s hand from the auger of a powerful juicing machine.

At approximately 5:00 PM on Monday, February 05, 2018, the Patterson Fire Department was dispatched to Cornwall Meadows Lane to disentangle a two year old boy’s hand from the auger of a powerful juicing machine.

Patterson Fire Department apparatus Engine (22-2-3), Rescue (22-6-1) and Assistant Chief (22-1-3) responded to render immediate assistance to the injured child. While the Town of Patterson EMT’s and EMStar Medic 4 tended to the seriously injured child, Patterson Firefighter John Barretto skillfully and delicately cut away parts of the machine, freeing the child from the auger. In the meantime, firefighters from the Putnam Lake Fire Department, along with the Patterson Fire Department’s Fire Police (22-8-1) and the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department had secured a landing zone for the LifeFlight helicopter that was needed to whisk the child to Westchester County Medical Center for emergency treatment.
