DeLaVergne backstops No. 10 Buffalo State Men’s Hockey to 3-0 win over Nichols to win Boston Tourney
BOSTON—Mike DeLaVergne (Pawling, NY) made 28 saves for his third shutout of the season and lead No. 10 Buffalo State to a 3-0 victory over Nichols tonight in the title game of the Boston Landing Collegiate Invitational.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Jake Rosen (E. Amherst, NY/Williamsville North) opened the scoring, netting his fifth goal of the season late in the first period with assists from Zach Nieminen (Ajax, ON/Notre Dame CSS) and Taylor Pryce (Newmarket, ON/Cardinal Carter).
- DeLaVergne would not need any more support as he turned aside all 28 shots he faced to equal his own school record with his third shutout of the season.
- The Bengals added a pair of empty-net goals in the final minute by Nieminen and Anthony Beaumont (Lester, PA/Interboro) to seal the victory.
- Buffalo State finished with a 35-28 advantage in shots on goal.
FOR THE FOES
- Colin Brennan stopped 32 of the 33 shots he faced for Nichols.
NOTEWORTHY
- Rosen was named the Buffalo State Player of the Tournament finishing with two goals and an assist.
