STAATSBURG, N.Y. – A heavy police presence was reported at Mills Norrie State Park (Norrie Point) on Sunday as New York State Police and State Park Police investigated what they referred to as a “suspicious incident” near the campground restrooms.
Authorities cordoned off the area with yellow police tape, and officers remained on-site for several hours as the investigation unfolded.
According to police officials, there was no threat to public safety, and park visitors were not asked to leave the premises.
While officials have not released further details, a source familiar with the matter told Mid-Hudson News that investigators are looking into the possibility that a person may have given birth at or near the site. Police are reportedly working to determine the whereabouts of the baby.
The investigation remains ongoing, and no additional information has been released at this time.
