ICE Agents Seen at Two Peekskill Locations Early Sunday Morning

PEEKSKILL, NY – Residents of Peekskill woke up to an unusual law enforcement presence early Sunday morning, August 3, as individuals identified as U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents were spotted at two separate locations in the city.

Early Morning Activity on Main Street

Around 6:30 a.m., two individuals believed to be ICE agents were seen knocking on the door of a residence in the 1500 block of Main Street. The quiet neighborhood was momentarily disrupted by the presence of these federal agents, though no details have been released regarding the purpose of their visit or whether any arrests were made at the location.

Larger Federal Operation on First Street

Shortly after the Main Street activity, a more significant law enforcement operation took place at a residence located at 925 First Street, on the corner of S. Division Street, directly across from Assumption Church. Witnesses observed agents wearing vests labeled “Police” and “FBI”, with some individuals wearing masks.

The agents appeared to focus their attention on the house, with several taking photos and video footage of the property. Once their operation concluded, a number of unmarked vehicles parked along First Street were seen leaving the area with the agents inside.

Social Media Captures the Scene

Later in the day, a post on the Instagram account @policewatch914 detailed the incident, including a photo and description of nine unmarked vehicles that agents reportedly used. According to the post, the vehicles included:

  • 2 black Dodge sedans

  • 2 black Fords

  • 1 silver sedan

  • 1 black sedan

  • 1 black Nissan Rogue

  • 1 silver Hyundai Sonata

  • 1 silver SUV

The post noted that while some agents approached the house, others remained in their vehicles, effectively surrounding the property.

Police Chief Responds

When contacted for comment, Peekskill Police Chief Leo Dylewski told the Herald, “We knew nothing about their presence,” indicating that local law enforcement was not informed or involved in the operation.

No Official Word on Targets or Arrests

As of now, neither ICE nor the FBI has released any official statement regarding the nature of the Sunday morning activity, whether it was part of a larger investigation, or if anyone was taken into custody. The lack of transparency has raised questions among residents and community members concerned about the purpose and scope of the operation.

While the full details remain unclear, the visible presence of federal agents in Peekskill has left many residents uneasy, especially in neighborhoods unaccustomed to such high-level enforcement actions. Community advocates are urging federal agencies to provide clarity and ensure that operations are carried out with transparency and respect for local oversight.
