Four D.C. Women Tied to Multi-State Organized Retail Theft Ring Targeting Lululemon in Old Town

ALEXANDRIA, Va. – Four women from Washington, D.C., accused of participating in an organized retail theft ring in Maryland, have now been linked to the theft of thousands of dollars’ worth of merchandise from a Lululemon store in Alexandria’s Old Town.

Maryland Arrests Lead to New Connection

On Feb. 19, the Gaithersburg Police Department arrested Precious Spivey, 18; Mone Herndon, 27; Shawn Stewart, 27; and Tanaysia Stewart, 18, for stealing more than $10,000 in merchandise from multiple stores, including Bath & Body Works in Germantown and LensCrafters and Lululemon in Gaithersburg.

Police described the group’s activities as part of an “organized retail theft ring” targeting high-value merchandise.

Old Town Lululemon Theft

Ten days before the Maryland arrests, on Feb. 9, a Lululemon store located at 700 King Street in Alexandria reported a theft of approximately $3,500 in merchandise.

Following the arrests in Maryland, the Alexandria Police Department (APD) reviewed surveillance footage from the Old Town store and cross-referenced it with items seized from the suspects. According to a search warrant affidavit, investigators confirmed that three pairs of white “Zeroed In” pants found in the recovered merchandise had been stolen from the Alexandria location.

No Charges Yet in Alexandria

While the connection to the Alexandria theft has been established, none of the suspects have been formally charged in the city.

Court Outcomes in Maryland

Court records show varying outcomes for the Maryland cases:

  • Precious Spivey – Posted bond after her arrest but failed to appear in court in June. She faces multiple counts of felony theft over $1,500 but under $25,000, and a bench warrant has been issued for her arrest.

  • Mone Herndon – Found guilty, sentenced to 30 days in jail, and ordered to pay $3,118 in restitution.

  • Shawn Stewart – Found guilty and sentenced to one year of probation.

  • Tanaysia Stewart – Found guilty and sentenced to 90 days in jail.

Ongoing Investigation

Authorities believe the theft ring was highly coordinated, targeting multiple stores across state lines for high-value items that could be resold.

The Alexandria case remains under review, and additional charges could be filed as investigators work to piece together the full scope of the operation.

Law enforcement officials are urging retailers to remain vigilant, noting that organized retail theft can lead to substantial financial losses and can be difficult to combat without coordinated police efforts across jurisdictions.
