Waterbury Police Arrest Two Teens in Stolen Vehicle Investigation

WATERBURY, Conn. – Two 18-year-olds were arrested on July 21 after Waterbury Police officers spotted a stolen vehicle and conducted a motor vehicle stop that led to additional charges.

Members of the Auto Theft Task Force were patrolling the area of Oakville Avenue and Eastern Avenue when they located a blue 2015 Audi Q5 that had been reported stolen from Bristol. As officers attempted to stop the vehicle, the Audi reversed into a police cruiser, causing minor damage.

Despite the attempted escape, both the driver and passenger were apprehended without further incident.

Suspects Identified and Arrested

The driver was identified as Jaydan Garcia, 18, of Waterbury. He now faces multiple charges, including:

  • Unsafe backing

  • Interfering with an officer

  • Criminal mischief in the first degree

  • Larceny of a motor vehicle (second offense)

  • Possession of marijuana with intent to sell

  • Operating without a valid driver’s license

The passenger, Nayelli Orozco, 18, of Danbury, was also taken into custody. She was charged with:

  • Larceny of a motor vehicle (first offense)

  • Interfering with an officer

Evidence Recovered

During the investigation, officers recovered $317 in cash and marijuana packaged for sale from the vehicle. No injuries were reported in the incident.

The arrests are part of ongoing efforts by Waterbury police to crack down on auto theft and related crimes, which have been rising across Connecticut in recent years.

Both suspects are expected to appear in court to face their respective charges.
