WASHINGTON, D.C. — A wave of violence swept across the District overnight, with four shootings and two stabbings reported between Friday night and early Saturday morning—just as the Fourth of July weekend got underway.
The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) responded to multiple incidents across Northeast and Southeast D.C., all occurring within a seven-hour span. While no fatalities have been reported, several victims were transported to local hospitals with serious injuries.

8:43 p.m. (Friday): A man was shot in the 1200 block of Half Street SE. He was taken to a hospital conscious and breathing.

1:32 a.m. (Saturday): A woman was critically injured in a shooting on the 200 block of Benning Road NE. She was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

1:37 a.m.: Just five minutes later, another shooting occurred in the 3500 block of Hayes Street NE. A male victim was reported conscious and breathing when taken for medical treatment.

3:30 a.m.: Police were called back to the 3500 block of Hayes Street NE—this time for a stabbing incident. Details about the victim’s condition were not immediately released.

3:36 a.m.: A second stabbing was reported just six minutes later in the 3400 block of Massachusetts Avenue SE.
