Victims and Officer Identified in Fatal Police-Involved Crash in Baltimore

Victims and Officer Identified in Fatal Police-Involved Crash in Baltimore

BALTIMORE, MD – Authorities have released the names of the individuals involved in a fatal police-involved crash that occurred on June 4 in Baltimore City.

The two individuals who died in the collision have been identified as 20-year-old Gabriel Castillo and 22-year-old Ezequiel Eduardo Garcia-Chicas. Both men were residents of Hyattsville, Maryland. Officials confirmed their identities on Wednesday as the investigation into the incident continues.

The officer involved in the crash has been identified as Jamal Cofield. He is a member of the Maryland Transportation Authority Police and is assigned to the Central Command Detachment-Patrol unit. No additional information has been provided regarding his condition or the events leading up to the crash.

Details about how the collision occurred have not yet been made public, and officials have not said whether any charges are being considered. The exact circumstances surrounding the incident, including the actions of the officer and victims prior to the crash, remain under active investigation.

Authorities are urging anyone with information or who may have witnessed the incident to come forward as they work to determine the cause of the fatal crash.
