Greenbelt, Md. — A car was stolen by two minors on Wednesday night while the driver was delivering packages for Amazon in Prince George’s County, according to police.
The theft occurred around 10:20 p.m. in the 7800 block of Emily’s Way in Greenbelt. According to the Greenbelt Police Department (GPD), the Amazon driver had briefly exited the vehicle to make a delivery when the suspects jumped in and drove off.
The driver promptly reported the incident and provided real-time GPS tracking information for the stolen vehicle. Using that data, officers located the car a short time later in the 7300 block of Morrison Drive, less than two miles from the original location.
Police said that one of the minors was still in the car when they arrived and immediately fled the scene on foot. Both suspects successfully escaped, and no arrests have been made as of Thursday.
Authorities have not released descriptions of the suspects, and the investigation is ongoing. The Greenbelt Police Department has urged anyone with information related to the incident to come forward.
Despite the suspects’ escape, the vehicle was recovered without damage, and no injuries were reported.
This incident is part of a broader concern over youth-involved car thefts, which have seen an increase in some parts of Maryland. Police continue to investigate whether this case may be linked to other similar incidents in the area.
