Two Men Charged With Attempted Murder After July 4 Shooting at Neptune’s Seafood Pub

NORTH BEACH, Md. – July 12, 2025
Authorities in Calvert County have charged two men with attempted murder following a shooting outside Neptune’s Seafood Pub in North Beach during the early morning hours of July 4. While no injuries were reported at the scene, the incident triggered a swift investigation and resulted in multiple serious charges.


Shooting Reported Just After Midnight

At approximately 12:30 a.m., deputies from the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of gunfire outside Neptune’s Seafood Pub, located at 8802 Chesapeake Avenue. Although no one was struck by the gunfire, the scene prompted an urgent law enforcement response.

Following a rapid investigation, detectives identified and arrested two suspects connected to the shooting:

  • Rayquan Malik Jackson, 27, of Falls Church, Virginia

  • Devon Patrick Hunter, 24, of Friendship, Maryland

Both men were taken into custody and are currently being held without bond at the Calvert County Detention Center.


Charges Filed Against the Suspects

Jackson and Hunter are facing a series of felony charges, including:

  • Attempted First-Degree Murder

  • First-Degree Assault

  • Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony

  • Illegal Possession of a Firearm

  • Second-Degree Assault

  • Reckless Endangerment

The Sheriff’s Office has not yet released details regarding the motive or whether the suspects and potential victims knew one another.


Third Suspect Accused of Tampering With Evidence

In addition to the two primary suspects, authorities have identified a third individual in connection with the case. Jeremiah Jermaine Nick, 19, of Shady Side, Maryland, is accused of tampering with evidence in an effort to obstruct the investigation.

A criminal summons has been issued for Nick, but he has not been taken into custody as of this report.


Ongoing Investigation and Public Appeal

The Calvert County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the incident and is urging the public to come forward with any relevant information. Detectives believe there may be additional witnesses who were present at Neptune’s Seafood Pub during the time of the shooting.
