Teen on Bike Snatches Headphones in Two Northeast D.C. Incidents, Police Say

WASHINGTON, D.C. — A teenager riding a bike is accused of stealing headphones from two people in separate incidents Friday afternoon in Northeast Washington, according to the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD).

The first robbery occurred around 2:25 p.m. in the 100 block of N Street, Northwest, when the suspect ripped headphones off a victim’s head and fled the scene. Roughly an hour later, a second similar incident took place in the Unit block of New York Avenue, Northeast, where another victim reported having their headphones stolen by a teen matching the earlier description.

Police believe the same suspect may be responsible for both thefts.

The suspect is described as a teenage male between 14 and 18 years old, wearing a black top, dark gray sweatpants, and a black hoodie. He was last seen riding a green ride-share bicycle during both incidents.

Authorities have not reported any injuries, but are warning residents to remain alert, particularly when using electronic devices in public.
