WASHINGTON, D.C. — A tragic act of gun violence unfolded in broad daylight Thursday afternoon when a 17-year-old boy was fatally shot in Northwest D.C., prompting a homicide investigation by the Metropolitan Police Department.
The incident occurred at approximately 3:07 p.m. on May 29, when officers from the Third District responded to reports of gunfire in the 900 block of Florida Avenue NW. Upon arrival, police discovered the young victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, unconscious and unresponsive on the scene.
Emergency responders from DC Fire and EMS quickly transported the victim to a nearby hospital. Despite lifesaving efforts, the teen was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
Authorities have identified the victim as Angel Ernesto Dominquez, a 17-year-old resident of Northwest D.C.
Investigation Underway
The Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch has launched a full investigation into the shooting. Detectives are actively working to gather evidence, interview witnesses, and determine a motive.
At this time, no arrests have been made, and police have not publicly identified any suspects. Investigators are urging anyone who may have seen or heard anything suspicious in the area around the time of the incident to come forward.
“This type of violence is heartbreaking,” said a police spokesperson. “We are doing everything we can to find out who is responsible and bring justice to Angel and his family.”

A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the teen’s killing.

The fatal shooting in the middle of the day has left residents in the area stunned and concerned for their safety. Community leaders and neighbors are calling for stronger efforts to curb gun violence in the District.
“This should never happen to a child—especially not in the daylight, on our streets,” said one local resident. “We need more resources, more support, and more accountability to stop this from becoming a regular occurrence.”
