WASHINGTON, D.C. – A 19-year-old man has been arrested and charged with armed robbery following a quick response and investigation by the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) in Northeast D.C.
According to an MPD press release, the incident took place on Friday evening in the 1400 block of Eastern Avenue Northeast, where officers from the Sixth District responded to reports of a robbery at gunpoint.
Robbery at Gunpoint
Police say the suspect, later identified as Andre Williams of Northeast D.C., approached the victim while armed with a handgun and demanded their belongings. The encounter ended with the victim’s phone being stolen before the suspect fled the scene.
Quick Thinking Leads to Arrest
Using the phone’s tracking capabilities, officers were able to quickly locate the suspect’s whereabouts. Within a short time, they arrested Williams without incident and recovered evidence connected to the robbery.
Williams has been charged with Armed Robbery (Gun), a serious felony offense.
