PUTNAM COUNTY, NY – A dramatic interstate chase involving a stolen Audi sedan ended in Danbury, Connecticut, thanks to a coordinated effort between law enforcement agencies from both New York and Connecticut.
The pursuit began around 7:45 a.m., when the New York State Police in Brewster were alerted about a vehicle stolen in Connecticut traveling northbound on Interstate 684. When troopers located the Audi and attempted to stop it on eastbound I-84, the driver refused to comply—initiating a high-speed chase across state lines.
In an effort to bring the pursuit to a safe end, troopers deployed a tire deflation device, which successfully disabled the vehicle’s tires. However, the car continued moving toward Connecticut before finally stopping just past the state line.
Once the vehicle came to a halt, the occupants fled on foot, prompting an extensive manhunt in the surrounding area.
