HOPEWELL JUNCTION, N.Y. – Families in Dutchess County who rely on food assistance are getting a boost thanks to a charitable contribution from Spectrum. The company has donated $2,500 to the No Strings Attached Food Pantry, a long-running community program operated by the Vineyard Community Church in Hopewell Junction.
A Grant That Strengthens Local Support
The donation comes through the Spectrum Employee Community Grants program, which funds local nonprofits where company employees already volunteer their time.
Michelle Flynn, coordinator for the pantry, expressed gratitude for the grant.
“The Vineyard Community Church in Hopewell Junction has been distributing food since 1998 as the No Strings Attached Food Pantry. We’re thrilled to receive a grant from Charter Communications-Spectrum, enabling us to provide fresh fruits and vegetables from local farms to families in need. This support allows us to offer healthy choices year-round from local supermarkets.”
Flynn emphasized that the grant will directly enhance the pantry’s ability to deliver healthier food options to local households, an important step in meeting growing community needs.
How the Pantry Serves Families
The No Strings Attached Food Pantry has been a cornerstone of support for nearly three decades. Each week, families receive three to five days’ worth of food packaged in two boxes: one with dry goods and another with frozen items.
Dedicated volunteers prepare and deliver these boxes, ensuring that families facing food insecurity do not go without essential supplies. In addition to food, the pantry also distributes bags of personal hygiene products, which are often overlooked but vital for maintaining dignity and health.
With rising grocery prices and continued demand for assistance, the pantry’s role has become even more critical. The grant provides financial stability to keep its mission strong.
Spectrum’s Commitment to Community
Spectrum, the parent company of Spectrum News 1, has made community engagement a key part of its corporate mission. Through its Employee Community Grants program, the company supports nonprofit organizations that align with the volunteer efforts of its workforce.
Rahman Khan, group vice president of Community Impact for Charter Communications, highlighted the importance of this initiative.
“Through Spectrum Employee Community Grants, we’re proud to provide support to vital community organizations with which our local employees are already volunteering their time and talent. Together, we’re building stronger communities where our customers and employees live and work across America.”
By focusing on programs already supported by employees, Spectrum ensures that its contributions directly reinforce grassroots efforts making a measurable difference at the local level.
A Lasting Impact in Hopewell Junction
For the Hopewell Junction community, the grant represents more than a financial contribution; it reflects a partnership between a corporate leader and a neighborhood-based initiative. The pantry’s ability to add fresh produce and healthy supermarket options means that families will not only have food on the table but also improved nutrition.
The donation also demonstrates the importance of collaboration between nonprofits and private companies. While volunteers keep the pantry running week after week, grants like this allow the program to expand its offerings and adapt to the changing needs of the community.
Looking Ahead
As No Strings Attached Food Pantry continues its mission into its 27th year, leaders hope this grant will inspire additional support from businesses and individuals across Dutchess County. With consistent contributions, the pantry can remain a steady lifeline for struggling families and ensure that “no strings attached” remains more than just a name—it remains a promise.
