Police Seek Suspect Who Brandished Knife During Macy’s Theft in Wheaton

WHEATON, Md. – The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) is asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect who allegedly stole clothing and threatened a store employee with a knife at Macy’s in Westfield Wheaton Mall.


Incident Details

According to investigators, the incident occurred on Sunday, August 3, 2025, at approximately 4:35 p.m. A male suspect reportedly took clothing items from the store. When a loss prevention officer attempted to intervene, the suspect pointed a knife at the employee before fleeing the scene.

No injuries were reported during the confrontation.


Suspect Description

Police describe the suspect as a Hispanic male wearing:

  • A dark shirt featuring an American flag design

  • An Adidas hat

  • Dark pants

  • Black and white Nike shoes

  • Carrying a black backpack


Public Assistance Requested

Detectives are seeking any information that could help identify or locate the suspect.
