Police Seek Public’s Help Identifying Suspects in NW D.C. Armed Robbery

Washington, D.C. — The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) is calling on the public for assistance in solving a recent armed robbery that occurred in a busy area of Northwest D.C. The incident, which left one victim injured, is now the subject of an ongoing investigation.

Robbery Reported on H Street NW

According to MPD, the armed robbery took place on the evening of April 29 in the 800 block of H Street NW—a central location just steps away from shops, restaurants, and popular gathering spots.

Authorities say two suspects approached multiple victims in the area. Armed with handguns, the suspects allegedly demanded valuables, using intimidation and violence to carry out the crime. At least one of the victims was physically assaulted, police confirm, before the suspects fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Surveillance Footage Released

As part of their investigation, the MPD has obtained and released surveillance images of the suspects captured on cameras near the scene of the robbery. The images show two individuals believed to be connected to the incident, though further details such as age, clothing, or distinguishing features have not been officially released to the public.

Police hope the clarity of the footage will lead to tips from the community that could help identify the suspects and bring them to justice.

Public Asked to Come Forward

MPD is urging anyone who recognizes the suspects or who may have information related to the robbery to come forward.

Information can be provided through the following channels:

  • Phone: Call the MPD tip line at (202) 727-9099

  • Text: Send an anonymous tip via text message to 50411

A reward of up to $10,000 is being offered for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for violent crimes in the District, including this armed robbery.

“Public safety is a shared responsibility,” an MPD spokesperson said. “Even the smallest tip could help move this case forward and prevent future incidents.”

Ongoing Investigation

This incident is one of several recent crimes in the downtown D.C. area that have involved armed assailants. The MPD has emphasized that they are treating the case with urgency and are actively pursuing leads.

While no arrests have been made at this time, police say the investigation remains active and ongoing.

Stay Safe and Stay Aware

Residents and visitors in the H Street corridor are encouraged to remain alert, especially in the evening hours. MPD also reminds the public to:

  • Travel in groups when possible

  • Stay in well-lit areas

  • Report suspicious behavior immediately

Anyone who was in the area of the 800 block of H Street NW around the time of the robbery and noticed anything unusual is encouraged to come forward—even if it seems insignificant.

If you recognize the individuals in the released surveillance images or have information that could assist detectives, now is the time to speak up. Your tip could be the key to solving this case and keeping your neighborhood safe.
