Police Searching for Three Suspects in Northeast D.C. Carjacking

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) is seeking the public’s help in identifying three suspects involved in an unarmed carjacking that took place on the evening of June 25 in Northeast Washington.

According to authorities, the incident occurred around 9:30 p.m. in the 1500 block of Maryland Avenue, NE. The suspects allegedly approached a vehicle, assaulted the occupant, and then stole the car before fleeing the scene.

Fortunately, no weapons were used during the attack, but the victim was physically assaulted in the process. Police have not released details about the extent of the injuries sustained.

Reward Offered for Information

In an effort to locate and apprehend the individuals responsible, the MPD is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to their arrest.

Police are urging anyone who may have seen the suspects or has information about the incident to come forward. The reward is part of the MPD’s ongoing efforts to reduce carjackings and ensure community safety.

How to Submit Tips

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the MPD by calling (202) 727-9099. Tips can also be sent anonymously via the Department’s TEXT TIP LINE by texting 50411.

Carjackings Continue to Concern D.C. Residents

This latest incident adds to a troubling pattern of carjackings across the D.C. region in recent months. While some involve weapons or threats, others — like this case — are classified as unarmed but violent, involving physical force to steal vehicles.

City officials and community leaders have been calling for increased policing, surveillance, and community engagement to combat the rising number of such crimes.

Residents in the area are advised to stay alert, avoid sitting in idling cars for extended periods, and to report any suspicious activity.

As police continue their investigation, the community’s assistance is seen as critical in helping bring the suspects to justice.
