Assaults involving everyday objects—like bottles or bricks—have been on the rise in several urban areas, highlighting the unpredictable nature of street altercations.

Local community leaders have repeatedly called for increased foot patrols, more outreach to individuals at risk of violence, and expanded efforts to de-escalate confrontations before they turn dangerous.

  1. Call 911 immediately and provide detailed information.

  2. Avoid approaching the suspect, especially if they appear aggressive or armed.

  3. If safe, record or observe identifying details such as clothing, height, direction of travel, and possible vehicle use.

  4. Submit your tip anonymously via phone or text to help authorities with their investigation.

Ongoing Investigation

MPD continues to investigate the incident and encourages anyone who lives or works in the area to check security cameras, doorbell footage, or dashcams from the time of the attack. Even seemingly minor details can help track down a suspect.
