SILVER SPRING, Md. (7News) — More than 20 dogs were removed from a pet daycare facility in Montgomery County as officials investigate possible violations, according to the Montgomery County Office of Animal Services (MCOAS).
On Tuesday, MCOAS executed a search warrant at a doggie daycare located in the 500 block of Sligo Avenue in Silver Spring. During the operation, authorities recovered 23 dogs, all of which were taken into protective custody.
The animals were transported to a facility in Derwood for medical evaluation and continued care. Officials have not yet released any details regarding the conditions of the animals or the reason for the search warrant.
As of now, no charges have been filed, and MCOAS has not identified the business owner or staff members connected to the facility. The nature of the suspected violations remains unclear.
A spokesperson for MCOAS stated that the investigation is ongoing, and further details will be released as they become available.
Community members in the area have expressed concern, with many awaiting answers about the welfare of the dogs and the future of the daycare center.
