SEATTLE, Wash. – A 35-year-old woman from Oak Harbor has been formally charged with second-degree murder in connection with a deadly stabbing incident that took place earlier this month in Seattle’s SODO neighborhood, according to the Seattle Police Department (SPD).
Suspect Identified and Arrested
The suspect, identified as Jordan Baleigh Weichert, was arrested on July 29 after investigators linked her to a July 14 stabbing inside a parked van near 6th Avenue South and South Massachusetts Street. SPD confirmed that Weichert faces second-degree murder charges with a deadly weapon enhancement.
Details of the Fatal Incident
On the night of the stabbing, officers from the Seattle Police Department and deputies from the King County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) responded to the scene after a bystander reported a violent assault inside a vehicle. Emergency personnel found a 55-year-old man suffering from life-threatening stab wounds.
Despite immediate life-saving efforts by KCSO deputies and rapid response from the Seattle Fire Department, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not yet been publicly released pending family notification.
Suspect Apprehended Without Incident
Following an investigation, officers located Weichert the same afternoon and took her into custody without incident. She was later booked into jail, and formal charges were filed by the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
A Troubling Criminal History
Court documents reveal a troubling pattern in Weichert’s criminal background. She has three previous convictions for vehicular homicide and two convictions for vehicular assault, raising serious questions about her history of violent behavior and public safety concerns.
Her arraignment is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. on August 14 at the King County Courthouse, where she will formally respond to the charges against her.
Call for Public Assistance
The Seattle Police Department is urging the public to come forward with any additional information related to the case. Those who may have seen or heard anything suspicious in the area on the night of July 14 are encouraged to contact the SPD’s Violent Crimes Tip Line at 206-233-5000.
