Municipal Pools Closed in Monticello and Newburgh Due to Maintenance Issues

MONTICELLO, N.Y. – Residents hoping to cool off this week will need to seek alternatives, as two municipal pools in the Hudson Valley have been temporarily closed due to maintenance problems.

Monticello’s Dillon Park Pool Shut Down Indefinitely

In the Village of Monticello, the Dillon Park Pool has been closed effective Tuesday, August 5, after officials discovered a leak. The pool will remain closed until further notice, according to village officials.

The specific location and cause of the leak have not been disclosed, and the cost and timeline for repairs are still unknown.

“We understand how important this facility is to the community during the summer months, and we’re working to assess the issue and determine next steps,” village representatives said in a brief statement.

Delano Hitch Pool in Newburgh Also Temporarily Closed

In Newburgh, city officials announced that the Delano Hitch Pool is also closed starting Thursday, August 1, due to what has been described as an unexpected maintenance issue. The closure is expected to last through Wednesday, August 6.

While no details were provided about the nature of the issue, the Splashpad and Aquatic Center building, including restrooms, will remain open to the public during the closure.

City officials apologized for the inconvenience and said staff are working as quickly as possible to resolve the issue.

Community Impact

The closures come during the height of the summer season, affecting families and local residents who rely on these facilities to beat the heat. No alternate pool locations have been announced at this time.

Updates on the status of both pools are expected to be shared through each municipality’s official website and social media channels.
