WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) is actively searching for two unidentified female suspects connected to a burglary and assault that occurred last Thursday evening in Southeast Washington, D.C. Authorities are urging the public to assist with any information that could lead to their identification and arrest.
Incident Details
According to MPD, the incident took place around 7:30 p.m. on the block of Central Avenue SE, where officers from the Sixth District responded to a report of an ongoing disturbance.
Upon arrival, officers discovered that two female suspects had forcibly entered a private residence. Once inside, the suspects allegedly attacked the homeowner during what authorities believe was a targeted burglary attempt.
The homeowner, acting in self-defense, reportedly used a knife to fend off the attackers, ultimately forcing them to flee the scene. Despite the violent confrontation, no injuries were reported.
The suspects escaped before police arrived, and their identities and whereabouts remain unknown. Authorities have not yet confirmed whether the suspects were known to the victim or whether this was a random act.
Investigation Underway
The MPD has launched an active investigation and is seeking public assistance. They are reviewing nearby surveillance footage, interviewing witnesses, and canvassing the neighborhood for leads.

Community Reactions
Local residents have expressed concern over the boldness of the crime. A neighbor, who wished to remain anonymous, said, “It’s terrifying to think someone can just barge into your home and try to hurt you. We’ve always felt safe here, but this incident has really shaken everyone up.”
The Central Avenue corridor has seen increased police activity in recent months in response to a series of property crimes. However, a burglary combined with an assault in broad daylight is considered a rare and alarming development in the area.
