MPD Seeks Public’s Help in Catching Burglars Behind H Street Liquor Store Break-Ins

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) is asking for the community’s assistance in identifying suspects involved in a pair of burglaries at a liquor store on H Street Northeast earlier this month.

Authorities say two separate incidents occurred at the same location, a store situated on the 1300 block of H Street NE, with both crimes taking place in the early morning hours and involving stolen alcoholic beverages.

First Break-In: July 7

The first burglary occurred on July 7, 2025, at approximately 5:10 a.m., when three unidentified suspects forced entry into the store. According to the MPD report, the suspects gained access by forcibly entering the establishment and stole a variety of alcoholic beverages before fleeing the scene.

Investigators have not yet released surveillance footage or detailed suspect descriptions but are hopeful that someone in the community may have witnessed something unusual in the area or recognized individuals connected to the crime.

Second Incident: July 10

Just three days later, on July 10 around 5:50 a.m., a second break-in took place. This time, police believe a single individual acted alone, smashing a glass door to gain entry. Once inside, the suspect stole more alcohol in a near-repeat of the earlier theft before quickly escaping.

Police believe the two incidents are likely related, either carried out by the same group or individuals with knowledge of the first crime.

Public Assistance Needed

The MPD is urging anyone who may have seen suspicious activity or has any information related to the burglaries to come forward. Rather than attempting to intervene, community members are encouraged to submit tips through the following official channels:

  • Call the MPD tip line at (202) 727-9099

  • Text anonymous information to 50411

As an incentive, the department is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for any information that leads to the arrest and indictment of those responsible for the break-ins.

MPD Encourages Vigilance

MPD officials are reminding the public to remain alert and vigilant, particularly during early morning hours when these incidents have occurred. Local businesses are also encouraged to review their security measures and check surveillance footage for anything unusual around the dates of the burglaries.

“We understand how disruptive these crimes can be for our local business owners,” said an MPD spokesperson. “With the help of the community, we hope to identify and apprehend those involved quickly.”

Residents living or working near H Street NE are asked to report any relevant information, no matter how minor it may seem, as even small details could help in solving the case.

Community Impact

The repeated targeting of the same location has raised concerns among nearby business owners, many of whom are calling for increased patrols and support.

“I’ve been here for over a decade, and I’ve never seen the same place hit twice like this,” one neighboring shop owner told 7News. “It’s unsettling, and we’re all hoping the suspects are caught soon.”

As the investigation continues, the MPD is committed to maintaining public safety and restoring peace of mind to the H Street business corridor.
