A Lucky Escape

Bruce was among several dogs recently rescued by Sandy Paws, a nonprofit that pulls animals from high-risk situations.

“We were able to save him from euthanasia thanks to foster parents who stepped up here in MA,” the organization shared. Now safe in a temporary home, the playful pup is ready for adoption.

Small Dog, Big Attitude

Nicknamed “Big Bruce”, this tiny canine weighs just six pounds but boasts an outsized personality. His most distinctive feature? Enormous ears that match his lively spirit.

Bruce loves chatting with humans and dogs alike—typical of his breed—but his foster family says he’s great with other pets, including cats. He’s also making strides in potty and crate training, with no accidents since his rescue.

A Cuddly Companion

Bruce’s favorite pastimes? Napping in laps, snuggling, and playing with squeaky toys. His foster family laughs at one of his quirks: hiding his chews in “secret” spots around the house—only to move them if he’s being watched.

How Sandy Paws Rescue Works

The volunteer-run organization rescues dogs from shelters, abusive situations, and owner surrenders in Massachusetts, while also helping straids from Texas, North Carolina, Georgia, and Florida. Since they operate without a physical shelter, all dogs live in foster homes until adoption.

How to Help—or Adopt

As a donation-dependent nonprofit, Sandy Paws relies on community support to cover vet bills, transport, and care costs. Those interested in adopting Bruce or another dog must submit an application—meet-ups are by appointment only. Currently, adoptions are limited to Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, and parts of Connecticut.
